Dos Eses Delicious Tamales opens in Downtown Rutland

An authentic Mexican restaurant opened in downtown Rutland City on Friday.

Ibjar Meneses and his wife, Betsabe Meneses, have been selling tamales out of the church they belong to for the last several months, but ever since the Rutland Board of Alderman approved a grant that supported his plan to open a brick-and-mortar business downtown, excitement on social media has ballooned.

Billings opened Roots in 2011 on Wales Street in downtown Rutland. Roots gained popularity with a farm fresh menu and creative, original entrees, drawing patrons from in-and-out of state. After its move in December, Roots opened with twice the seats in the Center Street Marketplace Park on Washington Street, where Billings describes it as “bigger and better.”

Students show love for Downtown with Valentines to Rutland

Second grade students from Northeast and Northwest Primary Schools visited local businesses with handmade valentines in Downtown Rutland on Thursday morning. Working with the Downtown Rutland Partnership, teachers led students to The Bookmobile, Kelvans, Ruff Life Coffee and the Rutland Area Food Co-op.
