Friday Night Live Concert Series Returns to Downtown Rutland
For Immediate Release | Nikki Hindman | June 21st, 2021
LATER AND GREATER – FNL RETURNS IN SEPTEMBER 2021!
After over a year of quiet streets hushed by the global pandemic, crowds will be able to gather downtown once again on Center Street for fun, food and entertainment. The popular Friday Night Live summer music series will return for two weekends in September, featuring Ryan Cabrera and Nine Days on the 10th, and Into the Mystic: The Van Morrison Experience on the 24th. In addition to music, families and friends can come out to enjoy the variety of the Center Street parklets, local and traveling food vendors, and activities that will pack the street between Merchants Row and Wales Street.
The Downtown Rutland Partnership, who organizes the series each summer, hopes to see the same record attendance of the 2019 events this fall and continue to ensure they appeal not just to music lovers, but also families who are looking for activities and affordable food options.
“We’re so excited to be able to bring back Friday Night Live in its full capacity,” said Nikki Hindman, Executive Director at the Downtown Rutland Partnership. “We can’t be more thrilled that all event restrictions are lifted after months of holding our breath during each press conference.”’
Ryan Cabrera will stop in Downtown Rutland with Tyler Hilton as part of the national Pop 2000 tour, featuring live performances by both platinum-selling artists. Ryan Cabrera is the singer and songwriter behind ubiquitous smashes such as “On the Way Down,” “True,” and “Shine On,” as well as albums that include 2004’s “Take It All Away,” which hit No. 8 on the Billboard Top 200. He was also featured heavily on MTV’s “Ashlee Simpson Show” and “The Hills.”
Tyler Hilton is best known for playing the fan-favorite character “Chris Keller” on the hit CW series “One Tree Hill”, as well as the role of “Elvis” in the Johnny Cash biopic “Walk The Line”. Tyler’s versions of “Missing You” and “When The Stars Go Blue” reached platinum status, as part of the One Tree Hill soundtrack.
Into the Mystic will take the stage on September 24th, recreating the spirit and energy of Van Morrison while paying respects to the legendary musician with one of the most revered catalogues in music history spanning over 5 decades. The eight-piece musical group, led by vocalist Justin Panigutti, is comprised of some of the Vermont’s finest musicians and portrayers, coming together to produce an evening of Van Morrison’s finest work and promising to be a musical experience not to disappoint. Attendees will be able to sing along to Morrison’s signature songs “Brown Eyed Girl,” “Days Like This,” and “Moondance,” while swaying to the hypnotic blend of folk, blues, jazz and classical tunes.
Each of the evenings will kick off at 5pm with the main musical acts starting about 8pm. Concert attendees are encouraged to come early to grab dinner prior to the concert and to bring their own lawn chairs for viewing the shows.
