Downtown solar company celebrates decade with Blackberry Smoke

Same Sun of Vermont Celebrates 10 Years with a Concert at The Paramount Theatre

In celebration of its 10th anniversary, Same Sun of Vermont, Inc. proudly sponsors Blackberry Smoke at The Paramount Theatre on Tuesday, Sept. 28, 2021. Tickets to the show are available online at The Heritage Family Credit Union Online Box Office found at www.paramountvt.org or by calling The Paramount’s Box Office at (802) 775-0903.

“We originally opened Same Sun just a few doors down from The Paramount because we recognized the theatre as the main driver of growth in our local community,” said Philip Allen, co-owner of Same Sun. “Since then, we have enjoyed hosting many events and fundraisers with the theatre.”

In fact, for its first anniversary, Same Sun sponsored Arlo Guthrie at The Paramount as he celebrated his father’s centennial. “It was only fitting for us to return to The Paramount for our 10th anniversary,” added Marlene Allen, co-owner of Same Sun.

The Blackberry Smoke concert is one of the first in-person shows at The Paramount since it was forced to close its auditorium in March 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Mr. Allen praised Eric Mallette, Executive Director of The Paramount, for his leadership of the theatre during this difficult time.

“Outdoor concerts, fireworks, two drive-in theatres — Eric truly kept The Paramount alive while it remained closed. Once The Paramount made the decision to reopen in September, we knew we wanted to be part of it,” Mr. Allen said.

For Mallette, Blackberry Smoke is an exciting addition to the theatre’s Fall 2021 lineup.

“We’re proud to present Blackberry Smoke — the energy they bring to the stage with their live shows is nearly unmatched. What a great way to fire back up The Paramount engine after more than 18 months of a dark stage,” Mallette says.

Blackberry Smoke is a natural fit for Same Sun. “Like many Vermonters, we love country rock,” said Mr. Allen, “and we were thrilled to learn that Blackberry Smoke recorded their recent album, Live From Capricorn Sound Studios, in an entirely solar-powered recording studio.”

Blackberry Smoke headlines the show as part of its current international tour. The band's most recent album, You Hear Georgia, racked up nearly one million streams in its debut week, topping out at #5 on the Billboard Country Albums chart and #2 on the Billboard Rock Albums chart. Blackberry Smoke is an American rock band made up of Charlie Starr (vocals, guitar), Paul Jackson (guitar, vocals), Richard Turner (bass, vocals), Brit Turner (drums) and Brandon Still (keyboards). The band has become known for a singular sound indebted to classic rock, blues, country and folk. Since their debut in 2004, the Atlanta-based band has independently released six full-length albums and toured relentlessly, building a strong and loyal community of fans. Reflecting on this important milestone, Mrs. Allen adds, “We wouldn’t be here without the support of the Rutland community. This concert is an opportunity for us to say, ‘thank you,’ to our customers, employees, friends and neighbors, who are our allies in the battle against climate change.”
