Halloween Happenings in Spooktacular Downtown Rutland

The 61st Rutland Halloween Parade may be canceled due to Covid-19, but that won’t stop the celebration of Rutland’s favorite holiday! Gather your ghouls (and don’t forget your masks!) for socially distanced events being held the last week of October.
Halloween Scavenger Hunt
Find jack o’lanterns hidden in the Halloween decorations in windows throughout Downtown Rutland! List the names of 5 out of 12 locations and the character found on each jack o’lantern on a scavenger hunt card and enter to win a $50 gift card to a downtown business of your choice.

Scavenger Hunt Cards can be picked up at Phoenix Books, Speakeasy Cafe, or The Vermont Truffle Company. You may also download and print the scavenger hunt card here.
When you’ve found 5 jack o’lanterns, take a picture of your card, and email it to info@downtownrutland.com, post your card here in the comments, or send Downtown Rutland, Vermont a message on Facebook.
One entry per person. The winner will be announced on Monday, November 2nd.

Downtown Windows on Parade
Explore the rich history of the Rutland Halloween Parade in windows throughout Downtown Rutland! 23 windows in the district will display photos from past Halloween Parades on Saturday, October 24th through Halloween, showcasing the city’s annual celebration of self-expression in its spookiest form.
Past parade participants Casella Construction and Killington Resort sponsor creative stationary float displays that by can be found at 72 Merchants Row and the Boys and Girls Club, located at 71 - 75 Merchants Row.
Visitors will be able to view a map of all the photo locations as well as a spooktacular display of jack o’lanterns, parade costume parts, and more at the Mead Building on the corner of Center Street and Merchants Row. Special thanks to Awesome Graphics, Zip and Royal Barnard, and friends of Norma Montaigne for organizing this event.
Presented in honor of the memory of Norma Montaigne. Norma Montaigne, aka "Anything Graphic,” was one of the artists and designers who contributed greatly to the annual Halloween Parade, including her creation of the costumes and props for the Drum Journey “Skelly Dancers” and other displays.
Halloween Farmers Market (Last Outdoor Market of the Season!)
Candy, art, and music - a Halloween treat! The Chaffee Art Center and the Vermont Farmers Market present a full morning of music and fun on Halloween. Stop by the last outdoor Farmers Market of the season donning your ghostly attire for the costume contest and take a picture at the free photo booth, sponsored by the Rutland County Farmers Market.
Afterwards take a walk around downtown and enjoy a wide variety of works including sculpture, painting, video and installation on the Rutland Art Ramble, a collaboration between organizations dedicated to fostering the arts and artists throughout the Rutland region.
Enjoy live music and candy for kids at each of the stops from 10am to 2pm on Saturday, October 31st. Learn more and view the map of locations >>
Halloween StoryWalk™ at Rutland Free Library
Trick-or-treat with the classic tale of The Hallo-weiner! Bring a flashlight to 10 Court Street between 5 and 6:30pm. All ages welcome for this Halloween treat.
