Street Party & Sidewalk Sales draw crowds to Downtown Rutland

Downtown Rutland's Street Party & Sidewalk Sales returned to Center Street and Merchants Row last weekend with over 50 vendors, food trucks, activities, live music and a pop-up beach.

The event brought over 1,000 people to Downtown Rutland to enjoy a giant sandbox full of beach toys, food from local restaurants and food trucks such as Simply Asian and O'Pablos Mexican, a bouncy house from Suncommon Solar, interactive children's activities from Wonderfeet Kids' Museum and the Rutland Rec, the Vermont Farmers Market and more.

"We've received an overwhelmingly positive response to the changes to Sidewalk Sales that made the day focused on fun for the community as well as a sales opportunity for merchants and vendors," said Nikki Hindman, Marketing & Events Coordinator for the Downtown Rutland Partnership.

Fruition Fineries, Raw Honey, McNeil & Reedy, Frogs & Lily Pads, The Bookmobile, Phoenix Books, Unlimited Potential, Camille's, The Curiosity Shop, Home Alternatives, Freeman Marcus Jewelers, Diamonds and More, Christini N Me offered sidewalk sales with deals up to 50% off regularly priced items.

"That was the most people on Merchants Row I've seen in years," said Martha Zullo, Co-owner of the Sandwich Shoppe.

Whitney Ramage led an ArtWalk that visited Castleton University's Bank Gallery, The Alley Gallery, 77 Gallery, two pop-up galleries and Rutland City Hall.
